I know the F2/F3 beds were bigger than the F1 and the F250s were bigger than the F100 (1953-1956) but I don't know how much.

Can someone give me actual dimensions of the F2/3 and F250 beds??

F1's had 6'6" boxes
F2,F3 had 8' boxes

I believe this carried over to the F100's/250's as well.

Since '42 boxes have remained std at 49" in width.

Are you sure about the width being the same??? I thought the box on a couple F2s that I've seen had a wider box and narrower rear fender?!?!?!?

 

I have a copy of the Ford Standard Bodies brochure for 1949. it lists 11 different beds for all the 1949 trucks. dimensions for the F2/F3 8 Foot Express box, are:
Inside width 54"
Between wheel wells 48.38"
Length 96.05"
Open Tailgate provides another 19.2"
Height 20.73 "


the Platform or Stake body for the F2/F3 is 74" wide (inside the rack boards), 90.03" long and 31.91" from Bed to top of stakes.

Glad you got the right info! I just got in from a jaunt across the valley to measure a friend's '52 F2 and 54" width was what I found. You're also right about the fenders - there is approx a 3" swell inside the box on the sidewall and the fenders are correspondingly narrower. Sorry, guess my brain went on screen-saver mode...... Tim
