Question Cruise control only works if cool

My cruise control only works first thing in the mornings or late at night if it's cool. It will continue to work all day if activated in the morning if you do not turn it off or shut down the engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't know. There are two main parts to the cruise control, one being the switches and the other being the servo/brain. Have you done any mods recently?

Start with the obvious, lube up your throttle body linkage, check that both cables move freely, the harness on the servo has a good connection.

Have you done the cruise control recall that was issued a few months back. A switch over heats and can cause an under hood fire. You may be on the brink of disaster, check with Ford see if your vehicle is included in the CC recall.

Make a signature with your vehicle specs so we all know what year, engine, etc. Welcome to FTE.

I Have an auto tranny, have done no upgrades, and I am not eligible for the recall from Ford. But I appreciate all the Ideas.

ok with an auto, you have the boo switch, your controls on the wheel and the processor, and possible deactivation switch on the brake pedal as well. you might want to check your brake lights/bulbs make sure all ok. look close because you may have a filament shorted out causing a back feed, also make sure you have the right bulbs because the led bulbs can cause an issue as well.
