Question Rust Bullet

Has anyone bought and used this product as a top coat? And if so how did yo apply it to the vehicle? spray, brush or roll? Did it turn out ok? I just got my gallon in the mail, and I will be using it on the floor boards of the truck they are just a little rusty surface only. I know the site says you can roll or brush it on as a top coat but to me I would suspect those methods would have brush streaks or blotching from a roller. Anyone try this?

well I haven't used rust bullets specifically, but I did put on some zero rust with a roller a few years back, looked pretty good, I would expect the consistency and characteristics of both products to be the same

Yessir it works...so far

Yup I'm on my 2nd quart of rust bullet and it appears to be working just great. I applied it with a brush, you can use a foam one for less streaks but it levels out pretty well. it dries & cures hard as epoxy (which is what it is), so if you get it on your fingernails or hands, you'd better get it off completely or you'll be wearing it for a month (can't tell you how I know I just do). Likewise for clothes - might as well pitch 'em. Also painted the tongue of my trailer hitch. Sits out in the rain all the time and only part that's got slight rust color is underneath the SS hitch ball!

I used it to kill the rust on the corner of my tailgate before I put bondo over it and when I checked it the next morn (b4 bondo) it was as hard as a rock. I'm sold.

Friends have used it as well for rusty tow rings on the front of a chevy truck and the shock towers of a dodge (not for strength just to stop creeping rust).

I'll buy more in spring because I want to do my frame. Expensive as hell but worth it so far. I would not spray it (you can) unless I had a cheapie throwaway spray gun. If any of that stuff hardens in the gun it's dead. Also vapors not a good thing - stop & buy an isocyanate approved disposable respirator.

So long story short - 2 thumbs up

Thumbs up the bullet

hey thanks for the input, I just got home from work and checked out my first coat on the floor boards looks really damn good. I think it would actually look nice as a top coat for trail riding, nothing fancy just a tough off-road paint that looks decent. I will try a roller for my second coat and let you guys know how it looks
