hey need some help on a 1960 F-100
Hello, I just bought a 1960 F-100 custom cab with a 292 and a ford-o-matic tranny. I plan on doing a full frame off some day for now I'm just going to do a little at a time. First off does fomoco have website or address that I could find the build numbers? If not could sombody tell me where to go. Second, I would like to decode my vin could somebody tell me where to go. I've already found restoration sites. Any help would be appricated! Also some of you have some real nice trucks!

Hey thanks does anybody have a picture or could even describe the color starmist blue because I've looked at the paint on my truck and its real sloppy so I don't think it's the original paint, but the interior looks like it was factory. By the way the color looks turqurise on the truck now and the interior and exterior are the same color.

Hi,
For 1960 F-100 2WD pickups, the production numbers were as follows:
Flareside.......27,383
Styleside......113,875
The last six numbers of your truck's VIN number will tell you the sequential production number of your truck.
If you can post all the info from your rating plate on the glovebox door, I can decipher it all for you.

Does any body know about the 292 ford-o-matic is that not very common? I also figured out the guy repainted it two tone but not the original color.

Hi,
Here's the vin de-coded:
Vin # F10C0K28786
F10 ...... 1/2 ton conventional
C ........ 292 V-8
0 ........ 1960 Model year
K ........ Kansas City (Assembly plant)
28786..... Sequential production number
Here's the rest:
Color BM ... (Two-tone)... B = Caribbean Turquois / M = Corinthian White
Axle 01 ..... 3.70 ratio
Trans C ..... Fordomatic
Date 15A .... Built on January 15th.
You are correct. The Fordomatic was not as common as the manual trans back then. The most common seemed to have been the 3 on the column.
Hope this helps.
