51 Ford F6 Engine Color
I ordered my engine rebuild kit today from Kanter. I wanted to order the engine paint as well, but I am not sure which color to order. I seen in one of the post on here a chart, but it lists truck and commercial trucks. Truck were bronze, commercial trucks were dark red. I think the F6 would be considered a commercial truck. Am I right in the assumption? Kanter does not seem to have the paint as well. Where can I order this paint from? The kit cost was $1042.00. It seemed like alot, but egge was more. I think these are the only places I could find that had the kit for a 7h flat 6. Oh well a brand new engine in a cool looking big truck. Hopefully running by march 25th. I want to put it in a car show the second weekend of June. I figure there will be some tweaking to do once she is running. I will also have to find a bed. I saw one on epay, but I bought an 8rt engine off of the same guy and it had alot of cracks in the block. I saw the bed while I was out there and it is very nice. I might just call him and buy it anyway. I was just bumbed by the bad engine and the 7 hour drive each way.

I know that this site will be helpful for part of the question or at least some ford question you might have.. now or later.
For Everyone - It's a FAQ site for all things. Ford just happened to be one of them.
http://www.faqfarm.com/Q/FAQ/1058
For paint chip colors and where to buy:
A while back I did this same research but can't find my notes right now.
At one company I found paint chips for old models. If I find it later I'll
repost.
Here's what I did find at the moment.
http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/fo...car_finder.cfm
They do allow searches for the engine color as well as many other parts
of the car.
If you search google like this exactly you'll get some good results.
"automotive paint suppliers"
Here's a link that has some links to people like PPG. Once I saw that I remembered
that they might be the company I saw that has the paint chips for all cars clear
back to the early 1900's.

PM me if you want more help. I have more information but it gets to be time consuming to post it right now if you don't need more.

Thanks for the help. I found the 8N red at tractor supply company. The store is great and it's only five minutes away. I will paint it the red because it was a commercial vehicle and thats what the chart says it should be. I might get kicked out of my city for having a red and black truck. Thats the city to our east colors. I will have to repaint the outside another color.
Thanks for the help.
