So im pretty sure that my lower ball joints need to be replaced. My haynes manual says that I have to replace the lower control arm and ball joint together? That seems a little much. Also, everywhere i look online, lower ball joints aren't sold with the control arm. Can I change ball joints without changing the control arm? Thanks.

 

Your dealer and any good parts store should have lower ball joints for your truck. They are replaceable without replacing the whole arm.

Ditto, the lower press out, the uppers you have replace entire arm. Auto Zone Part Stores lend the ball joint press to you for free if you have any local to you.

 

lowers are a little bit of a pain to get out and replace, but it is possible, just stick with it. i did the upper ball and arm on one side this morning. took a bout a 30 minutes.
