Wiper Motor

My wiper motor wont work anymore. It started after I pulled the engine out to rebuild. While it was out I decided to repaint the engine bay so I disconnected all of the wires and such off of the fire wall. When I was done I put everything back. Everything else works except the wiper motor. I just put a new one in before I stored it for winter last year. Baisically the wiper motor has been used like 2. I checked and it is gettin power thru the wires. If anyone has any ideas Id really appreciate it.

Did you paint where the ground strap of the wiper motor connects ?

Does it have a good connection to ground ?

The ground strap is just the thin black wire that goes to one of the mounting screws right??

I just dont think that it has a good connection. It seems a little loose now that I think about it.

I got the wipers to work, however they only have one speed. Is this a problem in the switch or do you think its the motor? Or is there really only one speed for the wipers??

Check the plug again. The motor has two speeds which are controlled by the switch position. Since you fixed the ground, either one of the contacts in the wiring is poor or the switch may be bad. The winding in the motor has two taps that go to the switch, one for each of the two speeds, so it is possible that one winding has failed, but given the history you have outlined, I would be looking for a poor connection in the wiring first.

I know that of the four wires goin into the wiper motor, I am only getting power out of one of them. Could that mean that the switch in the truck is bad or do you think there is a problem somewhere along the wire??
