How loud is the FM exhaust for the 5.4? I loved the sound on my past Mustangs, but want to see how loud it is on the Expedition.

 

Put the FM Delta Flow 50 on mine, sounds great, no highway drone and throaty when you step on it, best choice

 

What is the part number, what did you pay, any words of advice.

 

Tell them you want a 50 series delta flow single exhaust muffler, mine was $160 installed

Do you have the part number of the number from who you ordered it from? I just went on Summit racing and they have many 50 series single mufflers.

 

I put the 50 SUV series on my 99 expy w/ 5.4. Complete install was $250 w/ flowmaster tip. Sounds great..noticeable but not overbearing in the cab.

 

You can go to the flowmaster web site and download their catalog in PDF format. It will have model numbers for your particular application.

 

I put a Flowmaster original 40, offset in and out on my 2003 expy 5.4, should have gotten center in and offset out but it worked okay with a little tweaking. It is 2.5" btw, fits perfect w/ stock exhaust. I finished it off with a gibson stainless tip.

Thanks! It is loud though, so if you wouldn't prefer hearing the drone, growl of the V8 I'd suggest a 50 series or even 70 series muffler instead.

 

Wow. I just let my wife see/hear your video clip, and it was smiles ear to ear.... So I guess that means we get Flowmaster 40 for our Expy. Thanks for the awesome clip!!!!

 

Anyone have a Magnaflow? I really don't care about the brand, I just don't want the freeway drone.

 

Installed a 2.5" Flowmaster Hushpower II muffler on my 97 5.4 litre, not as loud as davesexpedition sound clip but close to it. FYI cruising at about 2500 rpm and over on the highway the muffler wakes up, almost like theres a hole in the exhaust, i don't mind it at all. I will be changing to 3" muffler and tailpipe soon.
Who else thinks these engines should have a full 3" exhaust?

 

i thnk that i am going to go with the majority here and go 40 series non delta flow? i am not sure but i would like to get a decent growl when i hit the accelerator and something nice to hear roaring down the road from the light any suggestions?
