Carb Spacer

Carb Spacer
I have a '57 4BBL intake manifold to replace the 2BBL on my 292, I know I didn't really need to but the 4BBL will look pretty "cool" on top. I have a 570 Holley Steet Avenger with manual choke, it's a little overkill but when it comes to me: "too much chrome is never enough"
Speaking of cool what is the opinion of you guys in regard to carb spacers, because I'm starting from scratch would I get any benefit from a spacer, either an aluminium or phenolic? Also open or 4-hole? If it's not worth messing with I wouldn't use one. My engine is stock but I live in a hot part of Australia.
I had a quick search on the Y-Block forum but couldn't find too much about carb spacers.
Cheers.

Carb spacers were utilised as a device to get the carburator fuel bowl away from the hot intake manifold.
The intake could get so hot as to cause the fuel in the bowl to "boil" leading to vapor lock.
It would probably be a wise move for you to use one since you mention that you live in a warm enviorement.
I recommend the phonelic style of material over aluminum.Phonelic material will have better heat dissapation charictoristics.
