I have recently bought a 48 F-2. As far as I can tell when I ran the codes on the truck it came factory with a 6 cyl. My question is how do I find out if it is the original engine or at least the same kind, that came in it? Thank you for any advice!

Your vin should read *87HY 110140* and lower OR *87HD 110141* and higher. Ford changed the designation mid-year. In either case your original engine would have been a 226 cu in flathead.

Ford didn't use serial numbers on their blocks, so if you have any 226 flathead you have a numbers matching engine. If your vin is different that the above examples, let me know.

Thank you for your reply! My VIN is 87HY56***. I am pretty sure it is the original engine. The number on the head is 7HA something, Just trying to bring the old girl back all original, so I want to do it right. Again thanks for the reply and any further advice!
