Luk vs. SBC flywheel -- revisited
This is a continuation of a thread from Saturday, but my decision still looms large.
I'm going for a solid flywheel.
Two guys were hot on their sbc's, but speak to me about the validity of the Luk system of changing everything out now and gaining some ease and/or $$ savings in future clutch replacements?
Is this just another case of "6 of one vs 1/2 dozen of the other"?
What are the advantages and disadvantages? (not just the $$ consideration)
I think I'll go for the slave replacement and just get it out of the way now while things are down.
Thanks a lot.
Man I learned a lot the other night reading all the info from the search I did on old threads about the flywheel and related items.
Oh, and to answer ForemanES' question: I can order stuff online and have it shipped to some blessed soul who will bring it down in their luggage (sometimes) OR I can pay by the pound for air cargo ($3.90 / lb + $60 surcharge). The dp is just a funky size and shape for someone to bring down, but not for cargo.

Dan, if you are seriously concidering a clutch replacement check out ValAirInc dot com. They are some local guys here in TX and make a killer clutch that is everybit as good as the Southbend at a fraction of the cost. They have the flywheels too. I've talked with serveral Dodge guys running big power with these clutches and they say they are great. Send an email to Dan there at Val Air and he can hook you up. I'm about to puke a clutch with all my new found power and I'm definatly going with the Val Air. Just FYI.
