cheaper powerstroke tuners, good or bad?

BEWARE OF THIS 90hp PRODUCT ON EBAY. Once Jimmyz123 has your money you will never get any kind of communication from him ever again.
My wife bought me one of these tuners for me as a Christmas gift. I installed it on my 95 PSD and it immediately lit the check engine light. Performance got worse with each setting change. I tried to run it for a few days hoping my computer would learn the modification eventually but performance was so bad i had to leave it switched off just so i could drive my truck anywhere. Okay fine, it could just be a defective unit. Well herein lies the real problem. I tried to contact the seller 3 times to return it, get a replacement, whatever.... NO response. NOT ONCE.
I'm not saying the tuner won’t work for your truck but this is my personal experience with this particular ebay seller. THE TUNER DID NOT WORK and even worse THE PRODUCT WAS NOT BACKED BY THE SELLER WHATSOEVER. I hope anybody looking at one of these tuners at least considers my experience and I think I’ve been on this board long enough to have a little credibility among my fellow forum members.

I asked the seller some questions, and they said … The device is more than the simple “10k mods” you may have seen on the internet and doesn’t have the idle problems that are associated with those. This is a budget tuner for those that cannot afford an Edge EZ or similar, but want the HP benefits. Plus, you get 7 different performance levels with a small, sleek cab-mounted selector. If you’re unhappy with it, they offer a money back guarantee.

I'll have mine in the next few days and I'll see how it runs with it on.

The only way that would be true is if it had a control relay to make and break the K-mod with IVS.
I think most do not realise the unneeded stress on the inj o-rings vs the gain with the K-mod.

if it only hooks up the the icp sensor then it as nothing more then an overgrown 10k mod, i agree with everyone else on this subject, could be a sticky situation.
and you dont need to be a rocket scientist to make your own 10k mod, technicly you dont even have to know how to solder. simply butt conectors could even be used if you were really illiterate.
to see the quote that "this is more than a 10k mod" then i ask how? if all it ties into is the icp sensor then how is it anything else?????
and also, madvan is correct, cranking up the oil pressure does give added stress on the injector o-rings. but if you have a properly operating system you shouldnt have any problems, you are only going up a few hundred psi, while that doesnt sound like much on a system already hitting 2500 psi, a leaky or weak o-ring could possibly spell disaster. well, maybee not disaster but definatly a leak. also on a stock hpop i dont think you could get enough oil pressure at a sustained level to do any damage, i imagine you would tax the pump before it could sustain a high enough pressure to leak past o-rings.
