With any engine, the more volume of air with the least restriction you can get in and out of the engine the better it will run. Even if you go with the pricey AFE intake, you will still be under $2000.
4 inch turbo back...is this the exhaust system?
AFE Stage II is an air filter right?

Just learning some new things here...........

Yes, you are correct on both parts.

I went with the 4" turbo back Magnaflow S/S exhaust and the AIS intake plus opened a hole in the bulkhead in front of the air intake(Zoodad mod). I installed a pillar mount gauge set for pre & post turbo temps & boost pressure. I am considering a chip but it is not currently in the budget. I did see an improvement in fuel economy and a little boost in performance just from these mods. The Magnaflow exhaust I got off of E-bay and was the best price I had seen on an exhaust.

Paid $348.00 plus shipping for the stainless steel system. I live in a state that uses lost of salt in the winter months, so the stainless will last.

I went on to the fleetfilter website and compared the 6637 filter to the stock ford filter. Something doesn't add up but the stock filter WIX says flows 640 CFM with a size of 13.3551 X 7.229 X 3.295(deep) and the 6637 filter flows 425 with seemingly larger surface area. What gives?

My second question is how did you connect your 6637 filter to the intake?

Remove the air box from the truck and discard.
Remove the big air boot from the coupler that is halfway in between the filter and the turbo.
Wash the boot thoroughly to remove any oil or grease.
Put your arm inside the boot. Now with the filter standing up on the ground use both hands, from the inside and outside of the boot and work it down around the lip of the air filter until it is fully seated. If you degreased it, it will stick there and you can clamp it down. Reinstall the whole assembly on the truck.

This is what the filter looks like installed and with Pete's filter cover. Take the stock air box out and install filter.

This is a wide view. The filter makes the whole engine look good.
