514 625 HP crate REWIEWS?

Hi guys

Looking at purchasing the ford 514 625 HP motorsprot engine to replace mild current 460, Can anyone give me some feedback or reviews on this engine?

Is it good quality and well built?

Also what gear what I need to get the most out of this engine, carb & could I get away with 3500 stall? Would it be beneficial to do some porting?

Car is Ford falcon sedan 1550 KG or 3420 Pounds 9inch with 4:11 gears 3.5inch steel tail shaft and TCI 3500 stall converter running a glide on 255/60/15 hankooks. Car is mainly a street thumper with some strip action. What wrhp could I acheive?

much appreciated

i wouldnt bother with one personally... mechanical roller cam isnt the most reliable thing in the world and doesnt take neglect at all... id run a hydraulic roller cam unless you dont mind adjusting your valve lash every 3000 miles and replacing your lifters every 25,000 miles or less... you could just as well build an all forged 545 with a hydraulic roller retrofit setup and have a little more power and alot less maintinence for about the same price- if your block hasnt been bored before you could reuse the stock block... if it has then maybe you should pick up the svo block

Huh? Properly adjusted, mechanical rollers will last just as long as hydraulic rollers. The only issue is keeping them serviced, and every 3000 miles is a bit of overkill unless you just think you have to. Solids, properly adjusted, should stay that way until drivetrain wear necessitates adjustment. Once the engine is broken in I would expect solids to go for at least 15-20K before needing any kind of adjustment. Even if it needs it, the task is dirt simple and done easily in your own garage with a minimum of tools.
