Question Chrome or black nerf bars for my silver FX4

I have searhed and looked at photos on line until my eyes hurt.
Like opinions on chrome or black nerf bars for a 04'silver FX4.
My truck really does not have any chrome on it to tie (chrome ones) in. Should I consider factory steps as well as Westin etc.

hay, i have an 05 fx4 white with the gray two tone paint. I have the crome runners with all the black trim and would say that the crome looks sweet on it. if i were you, go with the crome, plus chicks dig crome

Yeah, Chrome. Her favorite color is chrome! Funky little background music. I just installed a set of chrome bars on my buddys black Lariat. It didn't have any chrome either. It looks sweet, plus he added the chrome door handles to really set it off. My truck has no chrome either. I have Westin chrome bars on mne with the chrome handles. Look in my gallery, I think it looks pretty good!

what are your plans for the truck? do you have any chrome accessories already? do you intend to put a chromed grill on it with a deerkiller (grillgard) and the chrome door handles? see my drift

once you start with one direction, you're pretty much stuck with that scheme. I personally am going with the white/black theme for mine. I have seen a couple of silver trucks with the chrome done right and they looked awesome.

so, chrome is my answer...oh yeah, chrome is more expensive overall, don't know if that will be a factor, but thought I'd throw it out there

BLACK! IMO, I feel that the black looks best. Not a big fan of the black wheels, but as far as bull bars, nerf bars, etc. I like black. Let us know what you decide. As far as going with an aftermarket manufacturer or Ford, pretty much equal. Although you will probably pay more going with Ford.

black-black-black!!!

i've gone ALL BLACK on my f150. Only a few chrome accents(on the exterior....billet door handles, billet grille and trailer hitch). The interior is another issue. I just went w/ the chrome dash kit.

check out my gallery....black Westin oval nerf bars

My plans would probally be for no additionial chrome. Even if I did wheels in the future I prefer the alloy/alluminum look over chrome.
Any opinions on the black factory steps vs the westin style tubes?
Appreciate your opinions guys!

I've always prefered the bars to the steps.....And oval nerf bars over the standard tube bars.

I have black on my silver XLT and they look really good. It fits in with the black door handles, mirrors, black around the windows, dark vent shades, dark wind deflector, black flaps, etc. It makes a nice contrast along with the polished aluminum wheels.

i have the 04 stx with charcoal and have been doing a bunch of looking around and my opinion is that the black looks better with the oval tubes (more stealth) i have been told that all black bars will rust even the quality ones with electrostat paint. but i think if you get a pair with a good warranty (3-5 years keep the paperwork just in case) keep some wax on them you can keep them nice for awhile. i just don't want to start having to look for chrome add-ons throughout i like the stealth look not the ghetto look.

Sounds like the scale is tilting towards black/stealth look. I think I will have a look at the factory black ones at a local dealer in town.
What black aftermarket ones do you suggest I look at as well?

cabeza where did you find the chrome dash kit it's pretty cool on the inside, it also looks as though you bought some nice aftermarket floor matts are those husky brand?
finally getting back to the original ? i've checked some prices around here and westin brand for the scab in chrome @ $389.00 lifetime guarantee $299. for the black w/5 yr. guarantee & $40. labor to install.
