moth ***** or flakes, but that can be worse. baking soda in the box left there for about 2 weeks will absorb a lot of it. these were tricks my wife taught me

I feel for you. I had one die in my vents a few years ago. Got the carcas out but the smell lasted for a few months, gradually going away. I hope you find a solution because the only one I ever found was time...

You might see if you can rent a fogger, or ozone generator. Fire/flood restoration company's use them to deodorize burned places. A fogger is like a kettle that heats this scented oil and blows the smoke all over, when you do a house, you can't see from the smoke it creates. I'd say do the fogger and if it doesn't work, try an ozone generator. If you can't rent a fogger, you may be able to have someone come out on a service call and do it for you. You may be able to find the oil only and 'somehow' burn it and make it work, but don't quote me on that.

If you cannot have a steam cleaner clean the seat on the top and under ( have to remove the seat), then the " hang from the mirror" air freshners will work until the rat smell dies....

Those air freshners that smell like fresh pine trees just cut down will work, but your truck truck will smell like a rat that died in a pine tree. Not much else to do except mother time to kill it. good luck to you.

My wife handed me a bottle of "Smell be gone" that she gets at the local pet store for her animal smell. Says it will eliminate foul odors easily and quickly on furniture ,upholstery, trash cans , diaper hampers, microbial sources. Whatever those are.

ha, good catch. Amazing how a typo with the "s" missing on the end of animal changed the whole sentence. My wife doesnt smell like a animal, not the last time I checked anyway.

I used to work for a professinal cleaning company. With this type of odor you need to treat the afected area with an emzyne type of cleaner that will "break down" the germs and then Vacum it out. Then apply some comercial strength hydogen perxoide as a drying agent .
