Trip Report - New Mexico & Colorado

Hi everybody....

Havn't had a chance to be on much lately in the last couple of months due to work and recent vacation.

Took the truck and 8K travel trailer out west to New Mexico and Colorado. Boy, can this thing tow!! At real high altitudes (9K+), speed maxed out at approximately 50 mph. The engine was really revving, but no problem. The interesting part was when we would catch up to slower vehicles (semis & Diesel pick-ups ) and would have to slow down. One we had the chance to pass, we could! Any other vehicle we had in the past would take forever to get back up to speed. This truck just revved up and rolled.

Overall MPG for the trip was approx 8, using cruise control and Tow Haul. (I'm guessing that if I did not use cruise, we could have tweaked another 0.5 to 1 mpg out of her, especially in the hilly areas.)

The better half did a lot of towing too and just loved the balance of the vehicle.

Needless to say, this vehicle rocks!

I did, but what do the Reputation Points do? Just wondering.

I just gave you some.

Look in the User control panel, and see what other's have said about you

The "User CP" link is in the upper left when you're in the forums.

As you get more and more, the little green dot on the right side of your posts will become 2, 3, etc.

I have only 2 green dots, so ... not a lot of points ...

Oh, and the more reputation points (or rank, possibly, like moderator, super mod, admin) you have, the more points you give the person.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your vacation! YES, we do have some elevation here in NM...and these V10's do make a mountain into a mole hill...LOL!

Hope you enjoyed the beautiful scenes along the way too!

Pass route?

Care to share your route? I have driven several of the passes in CO, to include Coal Bank, Red Mountain and Molas Pass, but those were NOT pulling several tons behind me in a V-10 powered SD.

Unless all you-know-what breaks out, we leave the first of May, '07 pulling our fiver. The plan includes heading out from SC with a stop-over in Grand Junction, CO. That route will include I-20, I-75, I-24, I-57, I-64 and I-70. The we'll drop down to Durango, CO to visit relatives. Further drop down to Phoenix, AZ for daughter's graduation, then traveling back to SC via I-10 and I-20.

Really curious which passes you hit, pulling 8K.

Michael
