I wouldn't recommend it, but with enough work and wiring diagrams you can go back to carb. For less than a grand you should be able to convert to MAF. Ford makes a fancy kit, or you could add rear O2's and use a 96+ engine harness and computer.

It depends on the cam profile. Some aftermarket cams will work with speed density.

How do you want the motor to perform; are you looking for something with a smooth or lopey idle? Do you want it to have good low/mid range power or something that does well from mid to higher RPM's?

What type of driving do you do and where do you want/need the power?

It would really help to know what engine/transmission/rear end gear ratio/tire size.

I've been putting together Maf kits with 4 to 97 f150/bronco factory parts (ECU, both harneses, airbox ,Maf sensor and air tubes). For less than $200.00 from ebay and wrecking yard.. Done/ installed 3 of them had to swich injector fire order on the two old firing order 302's to get them to run right but alls well. You might have to do some wire/plug changes on the cab harrness end . I hav'nt put one in your body style yet . But got a guy pestering me to help him Good luck

There are several off-the-shelf cams that will work with speed density. I would suggest going with a custom grind cam though. A custom grind cam will be a little more $$, but it takes the guess work out of choosing one that will work best for your combo.

a 96+ maf setup is a headache. more sensors and almost as tempermental as speeddensity is.

like blurry said there are many options available, the key to speed density cam selection is a lob seperation of 114* or more and the computer will be happy.

The set up from ford racing will not work with e40d so Im back to square one. I have to find something to make it work with a bigger cam. That setup from ford racing is extremely nice but only works with aod and manuals. How much power can be gained from a cam that works with speed density?

check out the lightning guys, they run speed density and make great power. with the right ecu for your setup you can run a tweecer and a custom ground cam and make great power. but know that the cam will only work as good as the rest of the motor ie, flowing exhaust, heads etc...

Well heres the build a 94 f 250 with a 351.
I have:
Flex a lite fans
35 in bfg m/ts
k&n
6in lift

Im getting:
Long tube/short tube headers
dana 60
Y pipe
4.56 gears vs current 3.55

From there Im open to suggestions. Im not sure whether or not I want long tube or short tube headers. Truck is running straight off cats. Probably need A9L computer I believe. Not sure if it is direct bolt up but they make tweecer for that. Not sure what heads or cam. I believe I will install the dana 60 vs 50 unless I cant find one.
