Of floors and jacks (Floor Jack Tech)

I am sure that my next truck will be a F-350, PSD, CC, LB, Dually, 4WD. Needless to say this will be a heavy truck. My current 2,500lb. floor jack won't cut it at all. It struggled with my father-in-law's '06 F-150, SC, 4WD. With many years of use and abuse I think it is on it's last leg.

I was wondering what kind of jacking equipment you guys have (floor jack, jack stands, etc.) for your big super duty's? I know a lift would be the best solution but right now that is out of my price range.

Thanks for your help,

Paul

I use a Jegs 3.5 ton and a Craftsman 4 ton floor jacks. And then some Jegs 6 ton jackstands that I stick on top of railroad ties for extra height.

I bought an Arcan 3.5 ton floor jack part #AJ-35 (around $80) from Costco Wholesale around 2001. Also bought 2 6-ton MVP SuperLift jack stands from Walmart then too. My set-up works for me.

Bottle jacks come in higher capacities than floor jacks.

Just remember, you are only going to lift one side (1/2 the total vehicle curb weight) of the vehicle at a time anyways. So make sure your jack capacity is rated at least 1/2 your truck weight or more.

Just do what I did. Find a good local shop, get to know the owner and become friends, then he'll let you use his lift every once in a while when you need to.
