F-5 Fords and larger

I was told that the front sheetmetal clip on trucks larger then the
F-5 look about the same as the F-5. But are wider ? Like its mountings are the same but the fenders are slightly wider. Maybe 2 inches wider each. Is this true ? If so what part of the front is wider and how much ? THANKS !!!

As far as I understand it, that all the trucks front sheet metal is the same as far as outside dimensions go, but with the F-2 and up the wheelwell openings are larger to accomadate the larger tires...

actually just digging into my parts book, all F-2 thru F-6's have the same part # for fenders.. and my book covers 48-55, F-1/100 thru F-6/600. Hope that helps

Jon

The grills in F-7, F-8 and COE are wider than the smaller trucks. Fenders on an F-7 and F-8 are bigger too I believe.

Post F-5 Fords and larger

Just wanted to confirm fender information. If front fender wheel opening is larger on F200 to F600, will they still mount on F100 despite larger wheel opening.
The reason I ask is I have friend who lives 6 hr drive away who wants to sell his 1956 F600 (good body); I have 1953 F100 and 1955 F100 which I need body parts for. If I can take parts from F600 to use on my F100 I will buy the F600. I know if I go and see the F600 I could take one of my fenders along and compair, but I'm not heading that direction any time soon and he want an answer if I'm buying or not. Can you help.

See guys mines a 52 1-ton f-5. my wheels are 16" With I-beams. And the tire are about even with the fenders. Its lots ok. But I was thinking that if a f-6,f-7 or f-8 are wider and will bolt up. My tire would be under the fender more. I'm trying to get some pics posted but the galley wont except them. Because I think there to big. So im going to try and get the pics smaller. Thanks !!!

Hi TryMe, I suggest you read IronDragon's response, above. He has given you the answer.

I have a 52 F-4. The F-4 thru F-6 are the same body-wise for any given year. The F-7 & 8's have different engine/tranny/rear ends then the smaller trucks. Frame sizes may be different, depending on the GVWR.

Since your F-5 has 16" wheels and I-beams, it isn't ogirinal. The F-5 is a 1 1/2 ton (my F-4 is a 1 1/4 ton) and came with a straight front axle and 20" wheels. Yours must have had the front end redone or the body is sitting on a newer chassis. Have you considered changing the offset of the wheels, instead of changing the fenders?

Do you have any more details on your rig?

FRAN ! Ok ! To answer you I read iron dragon's response and if you read it he did talk about the F-2 thru F-5,But not the F-7 and F-8 Ok ! As far as the engine, trans, rear frame and etc. I was not asking about that. I know very well what they came with. I took mine apart, plus I have a orginal built 1950 F-5 that I built 2 years ago. But I will tell you no the 52 is far from orginal. It has twin I-beams,97 i-ton dually rear,5 speed standard trans and also powered by a 460 modified EFI engine with computer. Ok ! But I was not talking about all that. Just the sheetmetal not the trucks Iron or steel. To answer you on the offseting the wheels. You can't offset 1-ton dually wheels. No wheel company will do it. Just take a look at one and your see why. I'm not upset, but I did want to give you a clue in that I'm not just a truck driver,I'm a builder also. I do all my work. And before I leave ill give you one more thing to think about. The cab is not orginal, Its a custom built full 4-door complete p.u. in DP-90 primer ready for paint. All done by me !!!! So I know a little. And yes as soon as I get the pics I have resized smaller, there going to be posted in the user gallery.
