Question 95 Mirrior options

Okay, here is what is going on.

I of course have the fragile 95 mirriors.
http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...lack_right.htm

I hate them.
They are junk.
I've been missing my drivers side mirrior forever now. I can't find a good replacement.
I like the old style mirriors.
http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...s_steel__l.htm

I had them on my 91, and they are the best! they dont vibrate with the engine, and are solid.
However, the bracket for the old style mirriors isn't as wide as the new style mirrior brackets.

Do they make them for the 92-96 range? Or am I going to have to machine a bracket for the top to adapt it to the new style setup?

I looked inside the door. There are cut outs in the sound proofeing cloth on the door skin where the screws for the bottom would go in. So i just have to make a bracket to screw the bottom into, no big deal there. and just line it up and screw it in so it looks pretty.

Everyone else agree the old style look nicer?

We have a 95 F450 that has arm style . But the door was set up from factory that way.
Make a bracket . I've had the "NEW" style mirrors on last 4 trucks . Never had any problem I work construction and am always on bad roads. Last truck has 230,000 miles and never touched the mirrors. But I do like the solid style better. Good luck

i personaly like the look of the new mirrors better, but to each his own...

i did have a problem with my driver side mirror vibrating once

there is a nut that is on the inside of the door directly oposite the mirror. tightening that nut fixed the problem and it's been good since

Yep, that will fix that.

Hmmm. I'll have to find a truck with the old mirriors and check the bracket on the top. They mighta just used old style doors, consdiering they are all interchangeable.

Yea, dont get the china doors, I do know they vibrate on those cause the steel is so thin.

Talyn, the newer mirrors are far better in my opinion. Never had any issues with them. As for the old style mirrors, the doors have holes in the upper part of the door near the window and 2 more at about the middle of the door. A problem with these is that they tend to flex the door when being driven at high speed just enough to help disturb the paint as well as collecting water, dirt, and debri causing the doors to rust. The only real way to prevent this is to either take them off and constantly clean and wax or just use the new style. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

P.S. Good to see your an SVO fan. Wouldn't mind seeing that car.

The mirrors I'm talking about are larger swing away mirrors. Wet coast They are also on 97 F350 4x4 we bought new.Should cover holes on top. Not the small Light duty truck mirror Pre 92. Good luck

Talyn, the swing away mirrors are different for the 92-96. If you buy them from Ford they will have the special nuts & bolts to go with them. However, IMO they are an ugly mirror plus the brackets rust on the underside very quickly. I paid a bodyman to remove them, fill the holes, and mount the other ones. I haven't had a problem with them.
