P51D Mustang is starting off with a positive reputation.
Crank, oil seal, and block compatibility?

Recent questions about putting 302 or stroker cranks in 289 blocks.. ect.. has me thinking about the one piece and two piece oil seals. I'm unclear about what oil seals work in which blocks, and with which cranks.

Doesn't a two piece oil seal crank need a two piece oil seal, and the block and rear cap need to also be for a two piece oil seals?

Most stroker crank's are intended for modern 5.0L blocks that are one piece oil seal set ups.

Who knows the low down on this?

If I'm not mistaken, you can use a two piece seal crank in a one piece block, but not vice-versa. The one piece crank lacks the oil slinger ring to keep the oil away from the seal (or is it the knurling?) The one piece seal doesn't fit a two piece block whatsoever, so you have to use which ever seal the block requires.
