Unhappy Making shrapnel out of my yokes HELP!!!

I have a 67 250 4x4 on 38" hawgs, divorced 205, borg warner trans d70 in rear and a 60 in front. It has a pretty hot 390 in it as well, anyway I keep shredding the yoke on either the trans or the case for the intermediate shaft. cant keep it together I am getting ready to swap in an np435 trans from a newer truck and when I do this I want to have a shaft made for the intermediate with 1350 joints but I am having trouble finding a yoke for the 435with 1350 joints.
I have been told that they never made such an animal wich I dont quite believe has anyone out there ran into this situation??
Anyhelp would be appreciated

Thanks
John

You might have to get a flange yoke if you can't find a 1350 joint. They should be out there as we have a 77 250 with a divorce 205, and someone had a huge intermediate shaft made for it and it appears to have 1350 joints.

Maybe pro could chime in on this as i believe he has the divorced 205 and 435 setup and he is puching some decent power too.

How are you 'shredding' the yoke? Are you spinning the splines off it, or breaking the u-joint, or what? Maybe the problem isn't in the driveline, but in the attachment of the divorced TC. Even a 1330 u-joint will take a beating being in a straight line (relatively) in connecting the trans to the TC. Is there some huge angle there or something?

I'm still running 1310 on the intermediate 435 yoke. I keep my u-joints in good shape and theres no angle...so I've never blown a yoke, joint, or shaft there. Sometimes guys do funny stuff with the xcase...is your intermediate at zero at both ends? Anyways, I second giving Jesse a ring, he'll know what s possible.

Talking Thanks dudes!!

Ok my intermediate shaft is straight with no angles however i did get rid of the rubber mounts on the t-case and made aluminum spacers for it to keep the distance and angles as stock could this be a problem maybe but i think i am over powering the yokes capacity, I also re installed the truss rod for the transfer case so the case isnt moving anymore.. That was a problem at first.
What is happening to the yoke is it is busting one of the ears off and straightening out the u-bolt then ofcourse the shaft comes out. and you know this is never under normal driving conditions its usually after about six beers in a mud pit or having my truck strapped to the back of another one or some other dumbastic crap like that I know it is from abuse but I want to be able to abuse it more

I really don't think thats the case, simply for the fact that if I'm not then shouldn't be. At least, thats my logic You might have something about replacing the rubber mounts with solid transmitting a little more shock load. In either case, it doesn't hurt to go bigger so let us know what Jesse tells you.

62, I built my mudder out of a 77 with a divorced 205 and a 435. I'm pretty sure I was running a 1350 at the tranny. I believe I was a hybrid joint, 1310/1350 with the 1310 part on the shaft. I have that tranny just sitting in the shop. taking up space. If it's a 1350 you are welcome to it. Ivan will tell you I'm pretty reasonable with my yokes that I no longer use. If you are interested, pm me.

sounds like one of those 1330/1310 joints...my buddy had a 77 with those in the front shaft and the shaft between the t-case and tranny

Alright fellas,
I put the 435 in the truck with the 1330 set up because jess couldnt find anything and either could I.
I have been in germany for a while for work and havent been playing with the truck, but last weekend I took her out for a romp after the installation of a healthy solid roller cam and some new roller rockers and i shattered another one
I also bought a set of urethane mounts for the t case and there is no angles there, the shaft is verry straight.
This time I broke the yoke on the shaft as well. It looks like one side of the joint broke and then twisted the other side off. the joints were new spicer units as well.
I dont know what to do anymore, as soon as I poped second gear it just exploded.
Has anybody found anything out on this?
I know that there are two different diameters of yokes because the seal and bushing that came with my 435 rebuild kit were to big and I had to buy a seal and bushing elsewhere, and the seal and bushing that came with the kit is the correct diameter for a 205 yoke???

Sorry for the long post but I am at aloss on this one

Last mud bog I was at I actually twisted the stock intermediate shaft in two pieces, looked like someone took a beer can and twisted it until it separated in two pieces. This happened in the pits BEFORE the mud bog even started. My buddy had another shaft at his house from a 76 highboy and we installed it before the extreme class. I busted that shaft right at the line. This time the u-joint broke at the transmission. When I got home I built my own shaft out of 1/4 wall tubing but I still have the 1310 yokes on it. Only thing I have done to the t-case is brace it, no modding the mounts.

Do you have any good clear pics of the t-case and its mounts/supports? The only possible way I can see this happening is if the t-case is torquing and shifting under load because it's not properly braced. This would be much the same as the pinion yokes on the rear shafts that people have problems with because of excessive axle wrap. If Pro can hammer the crap out of his with over 600hp and never once have a problem there's no reason that you should be snapping these yokes left and right.
