Welcome to FTE

E10 = E100 1/2 ton Pickup

T = 170 1V I-6

H = Lorain OH Assembly Plant

221101 = 1962 assembled October 1961.

The MODEL code is listed separately on the Warranty Plate.

It could be E103 or E104.

All 1961/67 Econoline's are E100's. 1969 is the first year for E100/E200/E300's.

Even though this new model Econoline was introduced Spring 1968, Ford refered to them as 1969's.

VIN decoded using the 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

Thanks Bill,
This will help me out, I was wondering why when I got the title it read E103 and the year was a 1962 because the guy that sold me this truck said it was a 1961. Thanks and have a great day.

E103 is the MODEL code as listed on the Warranty Plate.

E103: 1961/64 Econoline 1/2 ton pickup / 3600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

Back then, some states registered vehicle by the year they were first sold, not by the actual year of the vehicle.

Since your 1962 Econoline was assembled in October 1961, it may have been sold in 1961...and so was registered as a 1961.

Most sellers (especially on ebay and Craigslist) are clueless, don't know diddly-squat about the vehicles they own.

ECONOLINE HELP

I am looking at an old Ford Econoline truck. There is no VIN data plate on the door. The title states the VIN number as "E10TH457496" and that it is a 1967. Does this VIN correlate with the year 1967? Also is there any other specific locations where the original VIN is stamped that a person can actually find? Thank you for any info.....

Look on the metal braces behind the taillights. There is usually a factory serial stamped on one of these. That will be the original.
The other location is under the doghouse of the motor. This requires you to unbolt and clean the seal goop that the doghouse boltd to. There again should ba serial number from the factory there also.
These are more reliable since they are stamped into the sheet metal. Doors get changed and the door tags do not or get removed.
Those numbers you posted are the serial number numbers, if they match the brace numbers then they are the original.

Yes the E14 is for a van. Someone may of changed the tag on the door or the door at one time. The serial numbers that are stamped into the body panels are either on one of the rear cross braces behind the tail lights. Other location is under the metal lip of the doghouse. Which means you have to unbolt and clean sealant gunk from the floor to read this one.

Break down of this number continues.
T is for a 170 CID eng.
H is Lorain assembly plant
505336 is the consecutive number of assembly. This number is for a 64 Econoline built before August 1964.
1965 Consecutive numbers start in August of 1964 to August 1965. Start with 580,000 to 731,999.

I suspect the door has been changed. When you bought it. Did the pics show the interior. If the heater box was on the floor it will be pre 65. If under dash. Then a post 65 truck.
