an arm, leg, and maybe your first born. If you catch a seller on a good day, you may get to keep your leg, but it's doubtfull.

Does $1000.00 for a bare block seem like a reasonable expectation?

For a good side-oiler block with no cracks, repairs and cylinders not overbored..$3000 seems to be the going rate. I have seen a few marine take-outs that went for less...

If you can buy a 427 side oiler block for $1000 and its rebuidable? Snatch it!!!

The thing is you can buy a brand new Pond or Genisis Block for a little over $3000 and there made better than the stock block for Hi-Perf builds by far..
