No redline on tach...

HI everyone. I have a 01 f-150 w/4.2V6 and 5 speed. Does anyone know the redline? It's not marked on the tach.

Thanks,
Chris

Don't know for sure but keep it under 5K. There should be a rev limiter that will keep it under red line. High revs can use up an engine in a hurry. With the advent of computer controls, red lines are becomming a thing of the past. If you must rev it up, I would stay under 4500 until you find out what it truely is.

Try to keep it down.

5000 is the listed redline, but I routinely take mine to 6200. 216,000 miles on it, and it hasn't blown up yet. There isn't any real performance gain over 5K, it makes a lot of noise, though. The bottom end is balanced enough to take the abuse, but there isn't any engine support up there.
