what are they asking for it? the combination isn't that unique(back in its day), but you don't see a whole heckuva lot of them around any more. Value is in the eye of the beholder so, if the price is acceptable to you and you want it.... get it!

I started with a $1000 POS (piece of $%^!) field laborer work truck. I got into it inexpensively, but knowing that it would take a lot of work, time and especially money. But, I've always wanted to own and drive an old truck. So for me, it's all worth it (even though it's been a money pit!). Now, after 2 years, I have a sharp looking truck that I feel good when I drive...and I'm damn proud of it!!!

So, bottom line as far as I'm concerned: a truck is worth what YOU feel it's worth... that's its VALUE to you; doesn't matter what anyone else thinks its worth. It's your gig....

Daryl i think they are asking 1300.00 or so. However, I dont think that I can afford another ford truck in my stable at the moment-- ALTHOUGH i always wanted an original 59! I know i might be kicking myself for not getting it, but i think im better off fixing what i have here Anyway, thanks again for responding and take care of yr vintage ride!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Dec-02 AT 02:07 AM (EST)]FordNut,
So, did you get it or not? There's no shame in buying the '59 and storing it for a while... while you finish you rother project truck. The '59 is a challenge; not a lot of parts available like the '53-'56's. But, at the same time, I've seen interest (and value) in the '57-60s increase because they are less common than the '53-'56's.

I did finally get my '59 out of paint & body. It looks 100% better than Day 1 when I brought the 'ol boy home for $1000. Can't describe how all the looks pay dividends around town. Today, everyone snuck a look as I drove around town doing errands, etc.

Bottom line: do whatcha gotta do; if you can swing it, get the '59. If not... there'll be others! There's ALWAYS old trucks to work on!

Have a good one,
Daryl

P.S.- the guy I bought my truck from was asking $1500 in the ad I saw it in. I showed up, looked the truck over, said "I was only looking to get into a project like this for $1000 considering all the work it needs". Long story short... I got it for $1000. So, if this guy's asking $1300, offer $1000. Trust me, you show up with $1K in cash, he'll take it!
DS
