hey guys, the overdrive button on my 96 f150s shifter is not working. the truck shifts fine, goes into overdrive fine, but if i push the O/D button on the end of the shifter nothing happens. is this a common problem? or something easily fixed?

id like to have it working for that annoying time in traffic between 35-40 mph when it keeps jumping into and out of overdrive.

a wire sometimes breaks inside the stalk. check that.

 

how do you take the handle apart without breaking it? ive messed around with it alittle and cant figure it out.

 

check fuse 17 in cab fuse box, listed as electronic transmission.

i will look at my button in the morning.

 

The cap where the button is pops off.

 

yep, i just did mine with a small screwdriver.
