Need help. Brake and steering problem

I have a 2000 mod F 250, and I have problem with my brakes. When I put my foot on the brake and then start it up. The pedal come up not go down like it should done, and when I stop the engine with my foot on the brake pedal it travel almost to the floor. And the last weeks it happend thre times when I drive, I feel that the front wheels are up in the air and it very easy in the steering and the car travel to both sides and I cant go straight. It last only for a few seconds and then everything is normal. I know that the brake booster are connected whit the power steering pump, so I wonder if the if the are a leak or somthing.Last week I was bleeding the power steering and it was a lot of air in the fluid. Greeting from Norway

sounds like you still have to bleed the system some more because of entrapped air. symptoms are the steering and erratic brake pedal.

Your power steering pump drives the power brake system because the engine produces no vacuum. It uses two different fluids. If you start your truck and add power steering fluid make sure you turn the wheels both ways a few times. There really is no official power steering bleeding. If you fill it with the engine off you may inadvertantly overfill, then the first time you turn the wheels fluid wil go all over the place.

Now the braking system uses brake fluid. Have someone pump the brake 6 times, (engine off) and hold. Bleed fitting gently. Dont get any in your eyes. Repeat at least 2 times. Refill and go to the other side and repeat.

Do you have 4wheel abs, have you checked your pads and rotors for any contaminants or wear? Your foot will go to the floor with the engine off and come up on startup as pressure is created. But while driving and losing control is not a good sign.

I will try to bleed the master cylinder separatly, and then I do the brake lines. maybe it is some air entrapped in the master cylinder.

No the master cylinder just has a cap, there is no bleeding that cylinder. You just bleed the brake lines. Hope this helps

It's not a problem to bleed the master cylinder, you just buy a master cylinder bleeder kit. And after a week with bleeding and 5 liters with brake fluid, I finaly I got the air out of my brake system. And the steering problem is gone to.

Nice to meet you to Texas. It's good to have a forum like this, if you have some problems. It is not so many cars like this in Norway, maybe because the diesel price.
It's about 1.60 $ for 1 liter (not one gallon)
