I have a 68 f-100 that I bought in pretty good shape several years ago. I bought it as a driver. We have since moved to the coast. Real near the coast, like 300 yards from the beach. So now I have this old truck that’s getting some serious surface rust. I was considering selling it because I don't have the money right now to do a proper restoration. This truck came with factory A/C and power steering and I believe it is all-original including what’s left of the paint. I was disappointed that these trucks don't seem to be bringing more money than what are listed in the classified section. I have considered painting the truck at an inexpensive shop but was concerned that someone interested in restoring it might want it as is instead of having a mediocre paint job. If I don't sell it soon it will have to have paint. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
I wasn't offering my truck for sale ......... I was looking for advice from people who have restored vehicles look for in someting they are considering for restoration. If you read my post carefully there it not an offer to sell.
hey dwebb dont get in a bind over what the moderator said, he tells that to everyone thats new here. if you what someone would be more than willing to help you. like me.
anyways is this a truck that you enjoy driving and drive a whole lot, cause if it is i personally would keep the truck, maybe keep it in the garage or something till you DO have the money to either get a GOOD paint job, or a restoration of the truck.
now on the other side if this is a vehicle that you drive once or twice a month, and have no use for it other than just looking at it i would consider selling it.
Under the circumstances, I would put a cheap paint job on it. It will sell better looking clean and bright than if it's rusty and it will preserve the truck. But then if it were me, I'd keep it.

Austin, You are correct, I agree, I don't want him to get into a bind over what the moderator said either.
While dwebb1911 didn't off his truck forsale he did suggest that it might be. He reacted like anyone would have that had his toolbox checked at the gate.

Don't blame John for doing his job
For years,
Even the "Mention" of something being For Sale used to be reason enough to remove posts.
There are ways to word things without mentioning something is or maybe for sale.
Many users have tried to bypass the FTE guidelines..... many times
Well, if I don't fix my truck, I'll have to sell it too.
Isn't everything for sale?
Anyway, if I had that old '68 and I still needed a truck from time to time, and I had a place to keep it, I'd roll the windows down and drive it through Earl S. or other fine brand just to keep it from rusting away. I think that answers the original question, which as I read it was "Paint or Sell?".
