Ultra Low Sulfur is here

Filled up at Walmart and the sign on the pump was changed from warning owners of 2007 models not to use the fuel (low sulphur) to Ultra low sulphur diesel suitable for all diesel engines. Looks like it will be Diesel Kleen for every fill up now!

There are Walmarts in all states and most foreign countries. Where are you? Ultra Low Sulfur is supposed to come in 2007, except in California which should have it now. I saw a post somewhere that said the refiners were going to add lubricant. Do some research by calling the distributor and let us know whether thats true, what they put in, and whether it is mandated by the government or varies with the refiner or distributor. No sense adding DK if they are adding 5% biodiesel, for example. We don't have Ultra Low here in Eastern Washington yet.

Sorry, thought the gray line on top of my post showed the city, state. I'm in Magnolia, Tx. And not all Walmart's sell fuel, plus some that do don't carry diesel. A new one opened up near me and it carries the cheapest diesel I've seen, $2.249/ gal.

Magnolia!

I am in Willis, just up the road from you.

I heard on the radio (K-Star) that there is a bio diesel station in Montgomery. Trying to find the address now. When I get it I will let you know.

Where is this Wal-Mart with the cheap diesel?

get ready for it...I live just north of Bend Oregon and had to fill up with it about 2 days ago. Talk about feeling violated...no lubrication(sulfer) and 2.98 a gallon.

Actually I talked to a fuel delivery driver the other day, and they have been putting ULSD in the tanks for about a month now but they can't change the signs on the pumps until it has been tested and certified at 15ppm so basically right now they are just flushing the tanks with ULSD until they get it washed out enough to get the old higher sulfar diesel out. So even if the pump says it's 500ppm fuel it's probably not, just not totally down to the 15ppm level yet so use DK anyway or run Biodiesel.

BTW EPA didn't think the change over was going to be a big deal all the fuel stations could just replace thier tanks yesh right.

It depends on your distributor, around here one has a dedicated truck just for offroad diesel so they can still deliver 500ppm, but the other can't afford a extra new truck so they are using ULSD for offroad diesel (you can't put ULSD into a tanker that has been used for LSD or 500ppm without scrubbing it out first) so you need to ask which they are delivering to you.

The stickers have been on the pumps in central washington all summer. Father drives for local fuel company and the ULSD hasn't hit here yet.

Thumbs down What are you supposed to use?

Dumb question...if you happen to have a 2007 diesel, and you need fuel.....the warnings say NOT to use this in 2007 engines, what are you supposed to do....use premimum unleaded??

There should not be any 2007 diesels out yet. From what I gather, no 2007 engines will be installed until Jan 1, 2007 and by then all stations will have converted to sell ULSD (in theory). Like they said earlier, ULSD has been delivered to many stations but still carry the warning sticker because they cannot be certified clean enough (15 ppm sulfur) yet. Once enough ULSD has gone through their pumps they can take the sticker off. ULSD will also be likely in red dyed diesel since 500 ppm sulfur diesel in a pipeline or truck will contaminate ULSD.
