Is there a bolt there?

I was wondering if there is suppose to be a bolt and nut between the running board and lower front fender? My friends 56 has a bolt and washer going through and fastening them together similar to the back fender. My truck has nothing and actually has a small gap between them. Which is correct?

There should be a bolt there...a single 5/16"-24 x 1 1/2" bolt with a flat washer, lock washer, and nut on the running board side. There also should be a round rubber bumper on the bolt in between the fender and the running board to fill that gap.

Nuthin, the parts catalog doesn't distinguish between long/short bed cases regarding the front fender assembly. But strangely, it says quantity "AR" ("as required") for these front fender to running board bolts, which leads me to believe there may have been differences. Other truck models have quantity 2 listed.

There are definitely different running boards out there, short, really short, and long.

My '56 longbed has the bolt but I'm thinking I recall a friend's '55 standard bed didn't. I know there are at least three different running boards for the 53-56 Effies. I'm guessing that some attach differently.

All I have seen have a rubber spacer between the front fender and the running board, about 1/2-5/8" thick.

The rubber spacer between the board and fender is correct. Got mine from Mid-fifties.

So, does that mean there is a bolt that goes through the running board and front fender to hold this rubber spacer in place?

The rubber spacer is a donut and the bolt runs through it.

Thanks everyone. While eating a donut, I made a donut from neoprene rubber, drilled a hole and now my truck is normal again. LOL...
