Have any of you guys put this set up on a older truck?I have a diagram.Just not to sure about it.Im doing it to my 71.It is almost ready to get it running again.But I have to get this wired up first.Let me know if you can help me figure it out.Thanks Tony

It isn't all that hard to wire up. I'd have to go look again for absolute accurate info, but I can say that the two wire plug to the box is the 12 volt and 9 volt supply, then you have the wires to the distributor and coil. Cranking voltage to the box is 12 volt, and the run voltage is 9 volt.

The site below describes how to go HEI! I did this to my 300 I6 and it works very good and IMHO it is easer to wire than converting to DS II.

NOTE: you must bypass the resistor wire on the ignition wire. It has to have 12V not 9V.

im thinking about doing this to my 65

 

i know me and me dad use to but this set up on our older trucks and i think we had to hook up on to the switch side of the (sil) and on to the coil. but the coil hat to changed to a electronic one. and it worked fine, i just use the old points on the older models i know the points up buy now are the cheap ones but you can still get the old good sets for under 20.00 made by borg warner and accel still have the ones made with the fiber board not the plastic. so i use the old style and i get about 6 to 10,000 miles out of them before replacing
