moving down
Hi I live in Maryland and will be moving in the winter to charlotte very close to the SC border I have worked in the same shop for 15 years and owned it for 4 years. I have great experience in HVAC and radiator/cooling systems and indash
I am also a ford specialist and know fox body mustangs rangers(v8) and F-series very well including 4x4 swaps etc
I can MIG/TIG/STICK weld steel and aluminum and fabricate almost daily everything from car parts(mounts brackets body parts) to motorcycle and other stuff too
I don't know anyone in the area and was hoping to gain some connections before I move as I will be moving down without a job or friends in the industry
Any help would be awesome
P.S I know that this forum wasn't really intended for a resume but this could really help me out thanks

Welcome to the area, I am also a newbe to these parts. Moved here from L.I. N.Y. back in May. There are quite a few good folks in the area to hang with, myself being 30 min east of Charlotte. Your in the right area as far as work goes, lots of shops ranging from basic repairs to full custom all over the place so if you have the skills work should not be a problem. Im sure the other guys will jump in soon to say hi. Oh yeah, nice supercab , Rick

Thanks for the welcome
we are looking to buy a house but will probably rent for a while first
as for location we are staying with friends that live in the 28273 zip
nearest I can remember its very close to the Charlotte-Douglas airport and Carrowinds park
I think I took 85 one exit into south carolina and then came back up to NC past a huge FORD dealer and on to their house, but we don't know exactly where we will live probably close though.
As for work I'd really like a custom type shop but I can do general repair
I know real estate is way cheaper than in MD
how bout lift laws vehicle inspections and historic/antique tags
I will be coming down in November to vacation/scout the area for a week and plan to move anytime after Christmas. The sale of our house will dictate when we move and how much money we will have to get established

There's alot of Ford Dealers here in the area the biggest one is Dale Jarrett Ford in Indian trails which is about 15 miles from where I live.As far as customs shops there are several like Rick said. there's Fatman Fabrications in Charlotte is one of the more well Known then there is Galloways 4 Wheel Drive Center in New London and the that 79Trailerspecial is at,I would check the phone book if you don't get a double herina picking up the Charlotte version. there is a Auto restoration shop near me along with a collison center in the same spot here in Monroe. So the oppertunities are there. But also be careful when buying a house since some areas are being bought up by DOT for highway projects all round here.

Hey Now,
Glad to hear that you are moving down this way....
I was born and raised in Silver Spring MD and I have been down here for over 30 years now....
I live in Gastonia which is about 10 miles west of the Charlotte Airport...
With your Job Skills...you will have now problem getting hooked up with a Job
As you may know this area is the Home of Cup racing...there are a lot of Cup Team shops near the Lowe's Motor Speedway and the rest are in Mooresville
A good welding/fabricator can find a job in a Cup or Busch Shop...no problem...there are also other types of racing moving to this area
If I can be of any help...just holler...post up or PM....
