I am about to pull the lower end of my truck engine out for a shop to rebuild.
I had a head shop fix up the heads and manifolds.

I don't know 2 things (at least 2).

1. Where to I attach the chains to the driver's side of the block. The passenger's side has two big loops low on the block.

2. Should I use a regular 3-claw puller to pull off the harmonic balancer (?)/pully at the front of the engine.

Please let me know anything else which will be of help. I want to get this truck available as a daily driver...everything working.

I always attach lifting eyes to manifold bolts, or head bolts. AutoZone and other parts stores have harmonic balancer pullers as part of their rental tool program--basically, you make a deposit, and when you bring it back you get your money back. Great deal. Don't use a 3 jaw puller on harmonic balancers. The outer ring will pull off, and ruin the balancer. Good luck!
