Question 69 Bronco Starts great warm... Cold different story

my 69 Bronco durring the day will start immediately no choking at all. Early morning or late nights, lately it will not start with out some starting fluid. The choke is working properly, plugs wires, ect ect are all good and new. What could be the culprit? I am leaning toward carb problems but im not much of a "carb-ologist" its a 2 barrell. Any suggestions?

Is your vehicle running properly when warm? Is it hesitating on acceleration? I'm thinking maybe your accelerator pump cricuit maybe restricted alittle but isn't completely blocked due to crud in the carb bowl. You might want to check it by moving your throttle arm and looking into the throat of the carb for a good steady squirt from both venturies with the engine off of course.

It seems to run fine when it does start. I had an 72 mustang mach 1 and it seems like the fuel filter (sight glass style) was always pumped full of gas, But on the bronco it seems like its kind of half full. I guess it just seems that there should be more in it. Could it be the fuel pump not working up to par?

It may be a f/pump problem but you would notice a loss of power on top end. I'm not sure if your style fuel pump has a check valve to prevent fuel drain back when the vehicle is off and sitting but you should still have enough fuel in the bowl to start it. One way to check fuel pump pressure is with a fuel pressure gauge connected.

You said choke is working properly, is it closing completely during cold start?

Not all see-thru fuel filters completely fill with fuel all the time. Sometimes depending on the position of the filter will have air pockets on the upper half but fuel is still flowing through it.

I figured it out, it wasnt spraying fuel at all, I noticed that a linkage that went to the front of the carb had come off. Must be the accelerator pump?? I think, connected it and it starts like its fuel injected now. Thanks for all the help!
