Rear rotors ???
hi guys I'm brand new to this forum and if it's anything like the FFR Cobra forum I know that Iwill get great advice from great people and maybe I can add my 2 cents in every once in a while to help someone.
My question is I have a 2002 F150 supercrew and I am having a terrible time replacing the rear brake rotors. I cannot remove the rotors. I have talked to a GM mechanic friend and he said that the ebrake inside the rotor is probably rusted to the rotor and I have to spray it down with penetrating oil and beat the crap out of it. From what I can see it should just slide off but.... it doesn't. Could there be a bolt or clip of some sort holding it on? I have sprayed hammered and pryed and it is still stuck. What else can be done?? The truck is currently jacked up with the tires off so a timely answer would be very appreciated, thank you. Todd

Hi Rickdj i have applied and released the Ebrake 10 times plus pushed the lever behind the rotor to the full release position. I have hit the rotor from all angles and in between the studs. I have put a pry bar behind it and also bent the shield to place another bar there roughly at the 10 and 2 position. I think the Ebrake shoes are either rusted or not releasing all the way but the ebrake is working so it's not like it is seized. Any more thoughts? Thank you Todd

Thanks racerguy i haven't tried that yet. The rotor is loose and ready to fall off but won't. I can turn it by hand and wiggle it as much as the studs allow. I will have to look behind and see if I can work that adjuster. I read on another forum how the parking brake set up can actually wear a groove in the rotor and make it very difficult to get off believe me I have been trying almost all angles and matters of persuasion. I had to put it back together again tonight since i had to move a couch but will try the adjuster next time. Thanks Todd
