Boyd Who?

Boyd Who?
Just watched his top 10 picks - and decided he must be a bowtie sort of guy. His designs are all streamliners - teardrop shapes - not a square corner in the batch.
Some people like this, and he mainly picks cars already popular. But not me - I guess I like the flying brick look. To me it is the difference between the simple honesty of a Colt 44 revolver and the creepy look of a Berretta 32 Simi-automatic belly gun.
His favorite (which just sold for $500,000) was some French creation - and all I could think was how much better it would look with a Kenworth truck sitting on top of it.
btw, free lunch for the norcal member who can tell me the name of the old guy drinking his beer through a straw with a pink umbrella!

Boyd, Boyd, Boyd...I find myself wondering if he's really as much of a ***** as he comes across as on American Hotrod. He seems to screw up eveything he he actually touches, so he mostly sits back and lets his guys do all the work. So how did he get to where he is?
I find I get tired of his cars, they seem to be all pretty much the same. I guess, going by the criteria in your sig Clint, the name of the show should be "American Streetrod!"
Destroying that '40 Ford convertible they did a few months ago for (I think) John L. Sullivan in Roseville made me ill...
Oh, and I don't have a clue who that is in the pic, although he seems slighty familiar.

OK, I will give you another hint, but the prize is now down to a free FTE Bumper Sticker, unless the winer is BroncoBabe - she gets a nice dinner where ever she wants to take me.
"The umbrella was just for WillyB, who said he "didn't want to see no sissy drinks". We forgot the limes, but we laughed all day about Corona's with limes being a serving of fruit." posted the homeless guy drinking his bud. He is a FTE member with a nice custom truck.
btw, the Boyd Who? sign was stuck on a real nice stock 44 ford coupe.

'42s I guess...possibly '42 models built in '43 or '44, but I as I've always understood it the US automakers concentrated all their manufacturing and design facilities on the war effort building jeeps and other military vehicles as well as aircraft parts, and so there were no passenger cars produced in those three years. (At least with the model designation of those three years.)
My mom (who grew up in Fresno) recalls the ice arena there being closed down for the war becuse they used it for manufacturing aircraft parts as well.

The guys an A hole, and anyone in Socal that knows him will say the same.
His ego is bigger then Dumbos farts.
This guy ruined if for hot rodders in California two years ago.
Remember the couple of shows, two years ago that dealt with the stainless steel 38, (I think it was a 38)
Anyways, while his blotted ego was lapping up the T.V. ratings, Calif. DMV investigators took a keen interest to that 38'. They followed the show and then did a background check on the registration. Namely how did this guy build a hot rod from scratch, in his shop with all new parts and then register it as a 39'. Low and behold they discovered the secret everyone was using to register custom hot rods in Calif. Using out of state registration paper you buy through the classifieds in varies mags, and out of state Junk Yard listings. Anyways they indited Boyd and his get of out of Jail card was his ratting on everyone and teaching DMVC all the ins and outs to getting around Calif. DMV smog rules.

Jeez, there for a minute I thought you were knocking RandyJack, the guy with the pink umbrella. He lives in southern california and posts to the 48 to 60 forum. (this closes the contest!)
As to Boyd, say what you want but he has been there and done it. I don't care for his cars and think his wheels are overpriced, but he has had more sucess than most would-be builders.
Watersurgon, I am having trouble with this website so I was unable to look at your gallery - what projects are you building?
