Nice looking truck! I, too, am enjoying my new F-350. If I didn't need the space, I would have gotten the Super-Cab too, but my Crew-Cab will work out fine.

I just got rid of my 02 F350 sc sd 4x4 5.4L 285 tires because one of the kids couldn't sit in the back seat without his knees in his face. Got a 06 F250 cc sd 4x4 6.0l 20 inch wheels and was able to keep same gvw 10,000. My old F350 never let me down even when I was pushing it a little in the soft stuff as long as I kept my head and didn't get stupid it always pulled me out.
Enjoy your new truck I am mine and will get a F350 or F550 next time with a flat deck so it works better on the ranch. The one I have now is for family and some work and so far it way better on fuel then the gas F350 and I have taken it on a 1300 mile trip that used half the fuel of the gas job and I still had fuel when I got home.
They tell me now the only difference in the F250 and the F350 is the springs. I would have waited for a 07 but the 0% interest and the truck sitting there on the lot just got the best of me. With what I had left to pay on the old truck the new one will be almost half paid for just couldn't pass on it.

shdwlkr: that was true prior to '05. My understanding is the axle is larger in the F350 SRWs than F250s and even larger still in the F350 DRWs, on '05s and up...

As far as I can find out right now my old F350 had a 10.5 axle just like my new F250 can't prove it yet but am looking as I am curious. The only difference I have found is that the F350 had 4.10 gears and the F250 has 3.73 gears.
The parts guy at the dealership I bought from said the axles are the same size on the single rear wheel F250/350 ford wanted to cut down on parts so they went this route. Will wait for the ford folks here to help me out on what really is different between them but I know my gvw stayed the same so can't be a lot of difference to carry 10,000 pounds.

Yes, I think your old F350 axle size is the same as your new F250 has. What's changed is what the parts guy is saying was true for F250/350s prior to '05, but not '05s on up. Each axle is a bit bigger than the one below it, from F350 SRW to F250 and from F350 DRW to F350 SRW. He may just need some edge-a-makashun is all...

Ooooh..... Thanks for the kind words. Cool truck- glad I finally get to see it (it was drop-shipped, for those who don't know, so this is the first time I've seen it).

re: differences between F250/350's. this is straight from the '07 Ford source book:

Front axle- 4X4 F250/350
Dana 60, 3.73/4.10 axle ratio, 6000 lb capacity

Dana Super 60, 4.30 axle ratio (this would be a DRW Tow-Boss Pkg)

Rear Axle:
F250: Visteon 6200 lb capacity
F350 SRW: Visteon 7280 lb capacity
F350 DRW: Dana 80 9000 lb capacity

Interestingly enough, the actual Visteon axle specs are the same, until we hit spline diameters.

For Front springs, there are no fewer than 9 different capacities listed, depending on other equipment the truck has. Rear springs with the Camper Package in the SRW versions are the same, but vary by 500 lb capacity on trucks not so equipped. DRW F350's, of course, have higher spring capacities. Clear as mud so far?

Damn those stock Ford 18" wheels are ulgy! I got them on mine as well. I am just going to put winter tires on the stockers and in November order up my new rims.
