Exclamation Fuel Puddle in the Valley

Today i was lookin around and found a small puddle of fuel in the valley directly below the turbo. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what should i do to cure this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated! I was looking around because i noticed a decent sized "spot" under my truck in the driveway today. I won't be driving it until this is fixed..i don't want it to EXPLODE!!! haha

more likely than not the fuel pump. they have a weep hole on the bottom easily visible with small mirror and a flashlight. i drove mine inthe same condition as yours for about 3 weeks without explosion. if you do conclude it is the weep hole dripping, you'll need to replace the fuel pump. while you're at it, replace the rubber fuel lines also.

The hole I believe is on the passenger side down at the bottom. It is about 1/16". The pump can still run if it is leaking. Mine was making a spot under the truck too.

had the same problem with mine a few months ago except I couldn't get it to leak while I was watching it..had to dry the valley then take it for a spin. Seems like it was about $110 for the pump at NAPA. Someone will post you a part number if you ask.

Make sure you get a Carter. NAPA is Carter and so is FORD. the weez is right about the price from NAPA. Ford is about $150. Post back if you are going to change it. There are some things to watch out for.

the part number for the pump at NAPA is M61067 and the line code for it is NFP. You shouldnt need to tell the counterperson the line code but just incase that is it. I know we stock it at the NAPA I work at but I cant vouch for other stores.
oh and I almost forgot, if you have AAA and you show your card you can get a pretty good discount, usually 7%

i will be changing the fuel pump...i now to watch out for the tappett falling down into the engine...i heard i could unbolt the pump----rotate the crank over by and untill the cam pushes the pump up---THEN remove the pump...this way the cam lobe is blocking the hold for the tappet to fall into--anything else to watch for?

It will start and run mostly like normal until it goes completely. I found it was easier to cut the old hoses off, and take the 2 bolts out of the filter and move it back to get the new hoses on. Change the fuel filter while you are there. Clean it out before you stick in the new filter. It helps to have a second set of hands when you do it.
