I just got new mufflers and pipes for my 360. Sounds awesome. One of the pistons isn't firing right, according to my mechanic. This is on a rebuilt with less than 40k miles on it.Could I need a valve job on just one piston? The compression on all the others is great except that one. Secondly, are those mufflers supposed to get that hot? They came painted black and I can smell the paint cookin on it. Sup? Anyfeed back would be appreciated. Robert.

The burning smell will go away. And,Yes you could have only 1 burnt valve. Rather than a compression test you need to perform a "leak down" test to determine if it is a valve or possibly broken piston rings.
