64-66 F100 Extended Cab?

OK Guys, Whadda ya think? The other day I was playing with a photo program on my computer and had a picture of my truck up. Somehow or the other I managed to stretch the picture so my 65 looked like an extended cab. I thought to myself WOW thats sweet. Then I got to thinking about building one myself and wondered what the biggest problems would be. I figure to use a long bed frame, extend the cab and shorten the bed or use a short bed box on the back (which ever works better), 9 inch rear, power steering and discs up front with a rebuilt 390/C-6. Except for the cab and bed everything should bolt on with no problems. Im getting ready to do the power steering and disc switch on my present truck so this new brainstorm should be easier. What I need are some suggestions about extending the cab/shortening the long bed box or using a short bed box. I know theres going to be a lot of welding to worry about/pay for but what else. Once the welding is done the bodywork/painting will be a breeze. Any suggestions? Oh yeah please help me settle a bet. I have a friend that said Ford came out with the Extended cab in 66 and I say it was later. Who's right?

Jay, You could build streach cab but it will be a lot of work, once it turns the corner, you are at the door. You will have to be creative, and have experence with making body panels. Maybe you can use a door to keep the shape of the side.

You win the bet, Ford didn't make a streach cab until early mid 70s, I'm not sure which year though.

Ft Bliss.Dont Tell me JTF6, or are you ADA???????? Thanks for the info on the bet. I was thinking use a set of doors and then fab the windows down some. I know its going to be a lot of work but that is half the fun. Why do most guys rebuild these things except for the fun of it. OK Next question. What type of rear windows? Small Opera windows or maybe a wrap around from a Econoline??????? Talk to me.....

The super cab idea is great! Have been thinking about that sort of creation myself. I would use some version of shortened door-window openings from a 61-66 for my quarter windows. Get the jump seats or rear bench from an up to 79 supercab, along with the back wall molded cover. Keep us posted!

I'm a Marine at Ft Bliss for 3 years, that's all I'll say. One one of the car shows (Hot Rodding, My Classic Car, Trucks, etc.. not sure which one) I say 2 weekends ago they had a 56 Ford the guy had added and extended cab on it. It looked great!!!!!

You might have been beaten to the punch, jb. I've seen a photograph of a 2 door crewcab version in a 61-66 body. Not a regular production model but, if homemade, a very clean job. It was longer than the modern sc but shorter than a crew. The photo was taken in a junkyard in Oregon(?) by Darryl M. You out there Darryl?

Tony,
Semper Fi. I was there from 96 to 99. You may have seen my truck running around the place or at the craft shop.

I got here Sep 99. I am quite surprised at all the Ford Supercabs running around here. I must say the "some" of the Mxicans have taken really good care of some rare Fords. Like the long bed flare side.
