It's been an amazing day. Dozens of people are walking around that should be dead. We all seem to know someone that was down there, decided to take a different route at the last minute due to traffic, was working in the area, or is responding to the disaster. How so many people can fall 60 feet and walk away can only be explained as a miracle.

My wife takes that bridge to and from work. She went through there about 40 minutes before it fell. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families that are involved.

Yes the devastation is incrediable. It looks like one of the cement bases along the shore tipped a bit into the river. I wonder if the river eroded the ground out from its base causing it to sink and tip under the weight.

Had one up here. A small bridge was just inspected a month earlier and what happen was at night some poor woman came to cross it and flew right across. The lucky thing for her was the opposite side slab was still there slopping into the gulley. Her van it that and bounced up over the top back onto solid ground. She got both legs broken and her kids suffered soft tisue damage. Lucky no one else had the unfortunate luck to join her.

Some funny thoughts for you conspiracy guys out there, got these from AM1500 radio, a caller to the Garage Logic show.

Bridge collapse happened on 8/1 at 6:05pm. 8+1= 9, 6+0+5= 11

Happened on Interstate 35W. 3+5= 8 (first day of eighth month) and under president George W Bush .

I've never laughed so hard in my life...

I was listening to that show when I learned that you can't say the word "flies" on the radio.

Some caller was talking and said "they were all over that like you know what on dog sh&*"

I still laugh over that one.
