Question I have flat 6 226 questions.

Has anyone here done their own rebuild on a 226 H series?? I have questions about the valve trane. I want to know if there is a tool available to compress the valve springs after I have removed the keepers from the valve stem. I have a regular spring compressor to remove the keepers, but I need one to get the springs in and out of the block. Does someone still make one? Do I need to find the oldest service station left standing and dig under their benches??

My other question is, did you replace the valve seats and guides? Did you have the tool for removing and installing the seats?? Same questions as above...

Keep in mind, I'm doing this on a tight budget, so I can't buy the gold plated stuff...

Yes they still make or you can buy the tool you need to take the valve springs out. I will do some looking around and get back with you on this. But I'm sure some one will get with you before I do. Give me a day or so to look around. Me and My dad are working on a 226 so I will talk to him and see if I can help you out some how.
