53 to 56 F100 runningboards

I have noticed that some runningboards go all the way to the front fender and some do not. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks.

I thought they all went to the back of the front fender. Other than say, about a 1" gap for the rubber spacer.

I have a 55, the bed has what looks like steps, and then a running board under door, they don't touch but are close!

The running board should have about a one inch space between its forward end and the front fender. That space is filled with a rubber (donut) spacer and one bolt through both flanges.

However, there is so much slop in the mounting attachments of the RB and fenders, that you could wind up with no gap.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about a rubber spacer. When I get to that point on my 53 I will add a piece in to make up the gap. The 56 will have to wait, one truck in pieces is overwhelming enough.
