how is your company with maintenance? It could be a factor. How much stress are you putting on the trucks?

bigdaddy,

Yes you can get it in a F550. The 3V guys can quote you horsepower numbers but I think it's somewhere around 350hp and 450ft/lbs. And it's like anything else, if you maintain it, it will last you a long time. I get about 12.2-12.6 mpg w/ my 2V version. It's 4wd and has 4.30 gears. 2wd would get better mileage but I'm pretty sure the 3V guys get better mileage than me.

Good Luck Dude!!! Let us know what you decide.

thanks for replies guys

i was asked about maintenance(SP) 8k oil, lube chassis, 16ktranni flush, 8 or 16k on fuel i have a very very good certified diesel master mechanic or whatever that work on them immediately for maintenance, all warranty work get done a the dealer of course,

and let me ask you this why do diesel mechs. at dealers hate there jobs so much, are they underpaid, is that my problem do they understand thats how they make a living. sorry about the rant ive recently had a very bad experience at my local dealer, service manager, diesel tech, service writer, they told me they didnt want to work on my truck anymore after three years and probably 40k of ford warranty money told me to take it to another dealership,,, im cool i even told them i didnt think it was their fault that it was a ford problem, but i dont know mechanics dont like tow truck drivers to think they are mechanics, so i dont i just service my customers, but they dont service me like a customer

next question, can anyone tell me if they think my 06 f550 will be better than my 04 f550, (please tell me yes please tell me yes please tell me yes) did i say that out loud........... ive had different problems with my new truck 7i njectors (5 trips to the dealer) and a turbo and a frame rail fuel pump never had these problems with my 04 550

EVERYONE CELEBRATE MY TRUCK HAS GONE 500 MILES SINCE ITS BEEN IN THE DEALER

8000 miles between oil changes? I wouldn't go beyond 5000 miles on the 6.0. The oil is used for both lubrication and as hydraulic fluid to fire the injectors. That doesn't explain the fuel pump, but could explain the injectors and turbo. However, there could be a myriad of other causes as well. Just a thought.

Dumb question: why don't you just buy an older pre-03? The 7.3 seems to have been better to you than the 6.0 troublesome engine.
just curious, not trying to start anything
