Buying a new motor

Anyone know of a good place to buy a new 6.0l PSD motor? After 140k miles of headaches, mine finally blew to a point that it would be cheaper to replace it rather than fix it. Of course the dealership wants about $12000 for this.

If you're going to put a completely new motor into it, you might look at one of the performance companies. It's a lot easier to put head studs, enhanced head gaskets, better turbos, etc. on it when it's sitting on a stand, rather than sitting under your hood.

Here's a site that sells Cummins motors to put in a superduty. I think they even sell some kind of adaptors for the Torqshift trans. http://www.fordcummins.com/

You aren't the only one... it's probably leading to the corruption of yet another SD owner.

Corruption? Im willing to be corrupted at this point. Im in Greensboro, but the truck is currently in Atlanta-where it broke down. I am buying another one to replace it but would like to fix the old one anyway.

The dealership is telling me it needs new head gaskets, and the head has cracked. What they havent determined is why all this happened. The head gaskets alone are 4800- along with all the stuff that has to be done with it. I am holding out hope that the brand new turbo blew and took the motor with it. Im giving that about a 2% chance though.

Talk to me here. I see there is some sort of forum joke going on but dont come here often enough to understand. You work for Dodge or something? Which that might be fine as well at this point.

No, PSD Matt lives in your neck of the woods. He's also crazy - just go read some of his older posts here (ever seen the one with the EGT needle buried above 1600*?). But, if you wanna go fast, he can get it done. And, while you're buying a new motor anyway...

Personally, I'd be happy if they'd fix the coolant loss problem on my bone-stock 6.0. Dealer gave me a truck to drive, but it's hard moving from a loaded F350 PSD 4x4 CC to an F150 STX 4x2 V6 with manual everything.
