I have a 2000 ford f150 supercab I have replace engine with a new engine about 6 months ago and now my ecm computer fried out. The dealership told me there is a 6 mnths national backorder on this part. My mechanic located a few used ones from a salvage yard. It was put in and the computer was reflashed to match up to truck but 2 days later same problem occured. Computer is bad. Is this a coincidence of 2 computers going bad or is there a problem elsewhere. Need anybody input and help PLEASE
Look along the frame rails and wheel wells, I would suspect a wire was nicked or pinched when the motor was installed. The bad wire is probibly shorting to ground and overloading the PCM.
This is all guess work, because we don't know what the ECM is doing/not doing.
My shift on the fly 4x4 stopped working took to dealer they sayd its the pcm not communicating so they want to replace the computer in my 2006 F150 5.4
and the part is on critical back order I think this is sad I don't think I will ever purchase another ford ever.
