Junkyard find - 1969 F600
I recently found a F600 chassis in a local junkyard....owner said $75 and I can take the whole thing or as much or as little as I want.
The GOOD...some interior parts ( That I want for my 69 F100 ) such as the dash with tach, am radio in good shape, all glass is good, doors are straight and quite clean, the hood is perfectly straight ( significant surface rust inside...) and various other trinkets I can use or sell on Ebay. The cab seems quite solid although I haven't looked close at the floor, the grill looks great ( it is painted )...is there any market for a heavy ford grill?
The BAD....The dash pad is shot fenders ( inner and outer ) are rotten, although I have no use for F600 Fenders anyway
The ??? - The engine appears to have an oil bath air cleaner....I thought the sticker on the cleaner said "330"...was there an FE block 330? The transmission is a 4 speed with a 2 speed rear end. Any market for these parts?
Should I bother with the engine and transmisson? I have no idea if the engine is loose?
What else should be of value off of the F600 trucks that might swap with the f100-F250?

The 330 was an FT, just a heavy duty version of an FE. A lot of people have swapped on the oilbath air cleaner, it's actually more effective than a paper filter, as long as you maintain it. The four speed is most likely an NP435, nothing really special there.
The tach cluster is a bit rare of one to find, I know people who have paid over $100 for them, so that's a good find.

the engine is a 330 FT you could get about 100.00 if its in OK shape. The NP 435 and the Eaton 2 speed rear end will bring some okay money, the 4x4 people like the 435 and the 2 speed eaton is also popular with them as a cheaper means of getting a unbreakable axle without paying a ton of money for a rockwell.

Be careful assuming too much about that tachometer. It is most likely cable driven. If so, it runs off a little PTO-like setup off the distributor.
390gashog is right, the 330 is an FT motor, very similar in most respects to the FE. However, the distributor is an issue - so you need to be aware of this since you want that tachometer.
The distributor in the FE is smaller in diameter thatn the FT one where it mounts to the block, but otherwise is similar to the FT distributor (or so I am told).
You can still purchase a bushing from Ford dealers to allow the smaller FE distributor to fit into the FT block.
However, to make the FT distributor fit an FE block, you have to have the housing turned down.
So, if you pull the tach, also pull the distributor and the cable, so that you can possibly adapt it to use on an FE motor.
Good luck with your find!
