Put one wheel on the street and the other on gravel and let it snap, if both spin its working, if the one in the gravel spins its not.

cleanup??? I DON'T THINK SO!!! ain't no stinkin cleanup around here.
you see, we wear our mud on our fords with pride.
it's only them there chubby and doodge fellers what clean the mud offa their cars so everybody can see that it is a chubby or doodge an still runnin.

I like to keep mine muddy so it at least looks like it is 1 color instead of 3. That and to make people stare at me. Stupid city folk.

Another method I've used for years, and got from good ol' Four Wheeler magazine is to lightly tap the brake when you feel slippage. The clutches will slow the spinning tire and engage the tire with traction. You can just hit it, but this way there's less wear and tear. And of course this only applies to dirt.

Cody had some very good post, but you got 2 strips of black, so... I'd say the L/S is working.

I had a open diff, and did all kinds of things, and always got 1 strip, now I have a LS, and always get 2(grass, pavement, ect.)
